We want everyone here to grow and be the best they can be, so in finance we offer all kinds of training, support and opportunities.
Finance Academy Board (FAB) - Every month people from across finance get together to look at ways we can develop the skills of our team in such areas as training & development, Your Say, graduates, professional qualifications, talent & succession and 'speed up & simplify' business improvement.
Talent & Succession (T&S) - Our dedicated T&S team in finance meets once a week to discuss current people matters and support the development of colleagues.
Your Say - Here, the focus is on keeping everyone engaged and maintaining our great team spirit. Our Your Say team gets to the heart of how our people feel and what improvements we can make. They take a closer look at our employer surveys and listen to what you have to say. They also create actions plans and let everyone know about our people and charity activities.
Professional qualification support - This is where we help our people get the right financial qualifications and support them with their studies and CPD (Continuing Professional Development). We manage training events with our partners and our relationships with CIMA and ACCA to maintain our accreditations. We also run our grad schemes and offer paid study leave and financial support with college and exam fees.
Career coffees - Once a month, you can drop into one of these 45-minute sessions where a finance colleague chats about their career and answers questions.
Training sessions - Every couple of months we put on training sessions to help you develop your soft skills.
Online training - On our website, you can find links to free external training sessions. While our FAB website is home to all kinds of training materials to help you with your CPD.
Mentoring - Everybody in finance can get the support of a mentor in a more senior role. Together you agree what you want out of the relationship and typically meet every six to eight weeks.
People Week - Two or three times a year, 'People Week' encourages everyone in finance to think about their development and expand their network and understanding of our business. There are all kinds of activities. Visits to our manufacturing and logistics sites, speed networking, team meetings, training sessions, and a finance fair. So you can find out what all our finance teams get up to.
Listening sessions - We want to hear what you have to say. So, we run listening sessions in finance. There are also other listening groups and forums you can get involved with at Morrisons, live stream groups, your Say groups, and listening sessions with David Potts.
"Since joining Morrisons as an office junior in 2014 I have had the support of my team and manager at progressing through a number of roles within the finance ops team, this has given me more confidence and also lead me to believe I can achieve.
These roles include working on the travel team, stores, cash, online and at present the wholesale AR team."
"Coming from practice, the opportunity to develop my finance expertise within a FTSE 100 business really drew me to join the finance team at Morrisons. The fact that they're so ingrained in everyday life for most people means it's great dinner conversation for me too.
I've progressed across 5 roles in my 7 years here, including taking time away for maternity, and I've had masses of opportunity to get involved in wider finance training and mentoring internally as well as externally (through Leeds Business School). Working in roles as varied as property to commercial and manufacturing finance, you really get the chance to work with a variety of stakeholders from across the business."
“Morrisons has supported me throughout my career with a number of opportunities across the business that have helped me to learn new skills. This breadth has enabled me to develop and progress my career in an exciting, fast-paced environment. The best thing about working at Morrisons is that you’re always learning something new, which keeps things fresh. I’ve been a Finance Analyst and Finance Manager in all kinds of areas from Home & Leisure to Meat & Seafood and Inventory.”
