Industrial placements

If you're part way through your degree and want to spend a year in industry, our 12-month placements give you the chance to put your knowledge into action. Morrisons is a great place to learn on-the-job, work on projects and give your career a head start.

And because we’re leading the way when it comes to meeting the demand caused by the coronavirus pandemic, it’s also somewhere that you can experience huge challenges first hand.

You won’t have to wait long for real responsibility and it will be a steep learning curve as you experience one of the most dynamic and fast-paced environments around. But if you’re looking to learn at pace and make a name for yourself, you’ll enjoy lots of support and the freedom to develop your career and unlock your potential. What’s just as important is that you’ll also have the opportunity to spend time with our customers to understand the impact your team makes - which will help us serve them even better.

Finance industrial placement

With a 110,000 strong team and hundreds of stores nationwide, it’s important that we keep our finances in check. That’s where you come in.

Our Finance Industrial Placement is a 12-month placement based in the finance team at our Hilmore House head office in Bradford. It’s a chance to gain valuable experience of a finance department within one of the UK’s largest supermarkets. You’ll be analysing expenditure, providing insight on financial performance to non-finance stakeholders and dealing with month end close and balance sheet controls.

You’ll also gain valuable stakeholder management, leadership and team working skills. Throughout the process you’ll have an excellent support network including a Buddy to help you settle into the role - and we think you’ll find this incredibly useful when you start studying towards your CIMA qualification. In fact, we have a generous CIMA study support package and you’ll complete a number of certificate level papers during your placement year.

Supply Chain industrial placement

Proud of our roots, we’re a leading Yorkshire food retailer, serving 11 million customers across our 500 stores a week. We’re also the UK’s second largest food manufacturer. Together, we make millions of products a year in our 18 manufacturing sites, allowing us to focus on what our customers want: good quality, fresh food and great value.  

Our Head Office is based in Thornbury, on the outskirts of Bradford. Buzzing with activity, this is where decisions are made and we grow our business. Hilmore House is home to many of our support teams from supply chain, marketing and finance to tech, HR and property.

You’ll work hands-on with supply and demand forecasting systems and see for yourself just why a high performance supply chain is necessary and what the knock on effects can be if it’s not! You’ll see how Supply Chain touches everything that we do from producing or buying goods to delivering them out to stores. And you’ll also work with our stakeholders and network with our suppliers - the variety is amazing!

Manufacturing industrial placement

As the UK's 2nd largest fresh food manufacturer, we produce most of our fresh food ourselves at our 18 manufacturing sites. From baked bread and seafood to fresh produce and meat products, we provide good quality food at great value. Join us on a placement and you’ll learn all about food manufacturing and help us to guarantee freshness from field to fork like no other supermarket can.

As part of our manufacturing team, you’ll develop your leadership skills every day. You’ll motivate your colleagues, work on exciting  projects and help us to continually improve and simplify our manufacturing processes. So, get ready to learn at pace and provide our customers with high quality food, as fast and as fresh as possible.

Nutmeg industrial placement

Nutmeg, part of the Morrisons group, is a family lifestyle brand that launched in 2013 and is now sold in all of our Morrisons stores. Nutmeg's aim is to take a fresh approach to clothing through offering our customers good, quality everyday clothes that are affordable, thoughtful and that work better for people’s lives.

As part of the Nutmeg industrial placement, you'll carry out a variety of administrative tasks, assist in the building of range plans and review weekly sales performances all the while working closely with suppliers and the rest of the Nutmeg team
