Buying Manager - Seafood
We are looking for a strategic and commercially driven Buying Manager to lead our Seafood category within the Manufacturing team in Grimsby. This is a high impact role where you will take ownership of the seafood proposition for Myton customers, balancing world class sourcing with manufacturing excellence.
As a Buying Manager, you won't just manage a supply base, you will support the category strategy, drive the end-to-end P&L, and act as the definitive authority on seafood across our manufacturing operations. You will bridge the gap between raw material procurement and retail execution to maximise margin, quality, and availability.
You will:
- Support and execute a multi-year category strategy that secures sustainable, high quality supply while delivering market leading value.
- Take ownership of category sales, margin targets, and the procurement budget. Identify commercial levers to mitigate inflation and optimise "total cost of ownership."
- Lead initiatives to boost yield and profitability, working closely with site teams to implement process improvements that minimise waste at scale.
- Act as the senior partner for Myton’s retail and site directors, providing expert recommendations and high level reporting on market trends and performance.
- Set the benchmark for "best-in-class" operating procedures, ensuring rigorous adherence to food safety and Myton’s premium quality standards.
- Lead the development of new product ranges by benchmarking against global competitors and translating consumer insights into a winning fish offering.
About you
We are looking for an experienced procurement professional with a "big picture" mindset and the ability to influence at a senior level. You will have:
-
Significant experience and a robust network within the UK and international seafood industry.
-
Proven track record of managing complex P&Ls and delivering year-on-year cost savings and margin growth.
-
Ability to analyse global market data and turn it into a clear, actionable sourcing roadmap.
-
Deep understanding of the intersection between manufacturing efficiencies and retail reality.
-
Strong interpersonal and influencing skills, with the gravitas to lead taste panels, supplier negotiations, and internal change programs.
-
A full driving license and a willingness to travel to suppliers and retail sites as the business requires.
