With nearly 500 friendly supermarket stores at the heart of our local communities, we’re proud to be able to make good things happen for our customers. And it’s all because we love providing over 9 million customers every week with good quality fresh food and a great shopping experience they won’t find anywhere else.

On our 2-year programme, you’ll think quickly on your feet at the heart of the action. It’s about helping to keep our stores running smoothly and learning what store operations are all about.

As the fast-paced world of retail isn’t 9-5, your role will involve early starts, late finishes, night shifts and working weekends and Bank Holidays. It’s hard work for sure. But it’s also very rewarding. Every day is different and we’ll support you every step of the way.

So, if you love helping customers, learning to become a brilliant retail manager is a great idea!

What our 2-year scheme involves

Our 2 year scheme has four placements focused on getting you ready to be a store manager. In your first placement you'll work across all areas of the store gaining a full overview of store operations and systems. You’ll quickly move into running your own team of colleagues where you’ll lead a department to deliver great service and availability every day. And with joint accountability with other Managers for the day to day operational running of the store, you’ll help to deliver great store results too.

In your second placement you will be a Regional Managers’ project manager spending day to day with them as they visit their stores and learning store standards from the best. The third placement is focused on gaining central experience working in our Retail Support Office, Loss Prevention or Productivity teams. The fourth placement is back in store as the Operations Manager. The aim is to roll off the scheme as a trainee Store Manager with your own store.
